CARTOON NETWORK COMPETITION...

The Creative Challenge

Kids’ imaginations are incredibly powerful and inspiring. Through their unfettered creativity, children can do things we adults only dream of. Cartoon Network has been built on imaginative minds and we want to encourage kids to not just use their imagination, but to do something with it.

Research (Any themes to push or barriers of show etc)

Does imagination play a role in learning and success in life? In a word, yes.
Imagination in kids is important: why children need imagination to help them get ahead socially and mentally.

  • Imagination helps school-age children solve problems by helping them think through different outcomes to various situations and role playing ways to cope with difficult or new circumstances.
  • Imagination allows children to practice real-life skills. From shopping at a pretend grocery store to assigning roles and dialogue to dolls or puppets, children's pretend play helps them practice and apply new learning and better understand how those skills are used in the real world.
  • Imagination encourages a rich vocabulary. Telling and hearing real or made-up stories, reading books and pretend play help children learn and retain new words.
  • Imagination helps children grow up to be adults who are creative thinkers. Adults who were imaginative children often become problem solvers, innovators and creative thinkers.

    FINAL ANIMATIC...

    The remake of super ugly...

In changing some details the main advantage is a better working flow in terms of dealing with the character structure, shape, composition and anatomy...in doing this before star modelling the character I avoid mistakes that would been very disastrous for the project.

    A legend is born

IN SMOOTH OUT THE FIGURE I THINK IT PAID OFF IN A SOLID LOOKING FIGURE...
MORE FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, TO DEFINE A MORE CONVINCING CHARACTER...
I DIND'T WANT TO USE A COMPLEX OUTFIT FOR MY SUPERHERO SO I WENT JUST FOR A EYE CATCHING OUTFIT...MIGHT CHANGE IN FUTURE BUT FOR NOW I WILL FOCUSES ON THE COLOURS OF THE OUTFIT...
MR. UGLY ITS A MIXTURE OF MANY CHARACTERS HE IS A RENEGADE SOLDIER NOT ARMED TO THE THEETH BUT HE IS EXTREMELY WELL MOTIVATED, FUNNY LIKE MR BEAN AND STRONG LIKE THE HULK...HE BEGINS BY SAVING THE VICTMS AND ENDS UP MESSING ABOUT LEAVING THE VICTMS REALLY FURIOS WITH HIM
    RUNNING AND FIGHTING THE CRIME...
    NOT OUR AVERAGE SUPER HERO...
    FLYING LIKE A BIRD...
    NEW FACIAL EXPRESSIONS...
    TURNAROUNDS DIFFERENTS ANGLES...

THE CREATION OF SUPER UGLY...THE SUPER HERO...

I begun with a few sketches based on my research, my idea of the character was all ready defined.
I had in mind the my skills in maya weren't that great so I try to create a model that coul be easy manipulated and animated...well I hope I can follow this...

A view from all the sides...
super ugly posing for a shot...
Super ugly in a various situations showing his skills
Facial expressions and some weird funny emotions
    BIZARRE...
    ECCENTRIC...

    Technical revisions...
Consulting my teacher for a more accurate opinion he advise me to change a few thing in my character to make my life easier...so initial I thought that I had to go back to phase one and create my character all over again, he later with a really few sketches made me realise that I didn't had to change my all character...the reason being for that was when I started modelling in
maya to have a really suave progression, and then he gave a few examples and remind me of when I'm modeling, facial definition, polishing the model, texturing, rigging etc...

    Super Ugly, the Super Hero...
    Storyboard & Animatic.

This my final storyboard and animatic for my short. I did leave details out but I think the final product is satisfactory, the idea looks kind complex for myself to put into 3d so in my final project I my droop some of the elements... Anyway hope you enjoy.
