Doritos ad competition...

Taking a snack icon to the next level.

doritos reinvented snacks when they were launched forty years ago as “the new beat in things to eat.” doritos has always been different from any other snack around—loud, crunchy, oddly shaped and intensely flavored. much more than a “mindless munch,” doritos has long been the most engaging snack experience around.

today doritos are in half the households in america. it’s the third most popular food brand in this country, after lay’s and campbell’s. hundreds, maybe thousands of new snacks have come around since 1967, but none of them have that unique combination of shape, flavor and crunch that is the doritos experience. none of them can satisfy that craving for snack stimulation the way doritos can. when you ask someone why they love doritos, they’ll often talk about those unique product attributes, but they add up to something bigger that often gets articulated as “they’re doritos, man!”

E4 COMPETITION

E4’s annual E-Stings competition, run in conjunction with Creative Review magazine offers young graphic designers the opportunity to win a commission to produce E4 on-air idents, and has attracted some remarkable entries since its inception in 2003. The plan is to create a 10 second animation or film incorporating the E4 logo to be shown in the advert break. so that's what I'm gonna do, and the title will be "THE MAD SCIENTIST"

The making of Super Ugly

Before I could come up with a more acceptable characters in terms of shape I try a few attemps that were very but very unsuccessful, but like the proverb says hard works pays off...at this stage after some stressful moments following tutorials and sleepless nights, I was able to star my character...using image plane front view and side view, I star building my character with a polygon cube...

Next after generate half of the body and the proportions, I made the head with a polygon sphere which then I had to connect using merge edge tool. For the arms I used extrude as well for the thumb.

Always checking from different views...

After a few problems tying to get the right shape, I used the mirror instance to get the right side of the body, and extrude faces to create the ears.

The character looks good but not has natural has I want, so to improve the proportions of the model ask for a few opinions which really help me figure out what to do next.

CARTOON NETWORK COMPETITION...

The Creative Challenge

Kids’ imaginations are incredibly powerful and inspiring. Through their unfettered creativity, children can do things we adults only dream of. Cartoon Network has been built on imaginative minds and we want to encourage kids to not just use their imagination, but to do something with it.

Research (Any themes to push or barriers of show etc)

Does imagination play a role in learning and success in life? In a word, yes.
Imagination in kids is important: why children need imagination to help them get ahead socially and mentally.

  • Imagination helps school-age children solve problems by helping them think through different outcomes to various situations and role playing ways to cope with difficult or new circumstances.
  • Imagination allows children to practice real-life skills. From shopping at a pretend grocery store to assigning roles and dialogue to dolls or puppets, children's pretend play helps them practice and apply new learning and better understand how those skills are used in the real world.
  • Imagination encourages a rich vocabulary. Telling and hearing real or made-up stories, reading books and pretend play help children learn and retain new words.
  • Imagination helps children grow up to be adults who are creative thinkers. Adults who were imaginative children often become problem solvers, innovators and creative thinkers.
